DATE: This month’s Des Moines Waterland Walk is this Sunday, January 21st.
TIME & PLACE: We will be meeting at 11:00 a.m. near the fishing pier/bathrooms/picnic tables in the northwest corner of the parking lot at the Des Moines Marina.
ROUTE: We will walk on the Des Moines Creek Trail, which is a 2 mile paved path slightly uphill to 200th Street. Then we will return to the starting point, so it will be about a 4 ½ mile walk in total after counting the short walk to the trailhead. If you don’t have time or are unable to walk the entire trail you are free to turn around at any time. Dogs are welcome, and be prepared for the weather. We do walk underneath trees for much of the trail so it is somewhat protected from the weather. We walk rain or shine.
PARKING: Remember there is a fee for parking at the marina now, and Des Moines residents can buy an annual pass at the marina office.
