Miller Creek signWABI is changing its walk day (Feb only!) from its usual third Wednesday to MONDAY, 2/18.   Why?  Uh-oh – more snow predicted for Wednesday!  Join us on an almost sunny MONDAY, Feb. 18, 9 am on the Miller Creek Trail  off Des Moines Memorial Drive.  (Note, the Miller Creek trail in Burien is different than the Miller Creek Preserve in Normandy Park.)  School kids who have President’s Day off are especially welcome.

Date: MONDAY, Feb 18, 2019 (not Weds)
Time: Meet 5-10 minutes early so we can leave promptly at 9:00 am.
Meeting Place:  14455 Des Moines Memorial Drive.
Parking lot at trailhead is on the left (west) side of Des Moines Memorial Drive, just north of where it crosses under Highway 518.  The trailhead sign is hard to see — as a landmark, look for the storage facility on the opposite side of the street.

Depending on the group’s preference, for a little extra exercise, we’ll go from the lowlands to the highlands – the highest point in Burien, near Mathison Park (463 feet!) and take the path through Mathison Park. The Miller Creek Trail is flat and paved, the rest of the walk has some hills and walking is along the side of the street.   On the return, we’ll retrace our steps for a total of under 3 miles, about an hour’s walk. We’re hoping the snow will be pretty much melted at this sunny time between snowstorms, but make sure you wear snow boots or other appropriate footwear.
