There will be NO APRIL 2020 WALK-N-TALK (and likely no May Walk-n-Talk).

Since the Governor’s “Stay Home Order” has been extended to May 4 to control the spread of coronavirus, WABI will NOT have a Walk-n-Talk on Sunday, April 5 (and likely not on May 3 unless the Governor cancels the order before May 4).

WABI Burien started the monthly Walk-n-Talks in August of 2011, and we haven’t missed a single month in these eight-and-a-half years! The walks have been well-attended, and frequent walkers have become friends. We will all miss this month’s opportunity to visit with each other while walking through Burien neighborhoods.

We usually have a group larger than 10 (the max gathering allowed by the Governor’s guidelines) and since we’re so familiar to each other, it would be hard to enforce the social distancing guidelines. Everyone’s safety and well-being while walking is paramount, so canceling the Walk-n-Talk is the best thing for us to do right now.

DO Walk. DO Bike!

We DO recommend that you still get out for walks and bike rides during this stressful time. Walking (and cycling) are allowed by Governor Inslee’s order, and it’s good for your mental and physical health. It’s great to see so many people out walking these days! Do remember that “social distancing” is as important when you’re outdoors as when you’re indoors.

Perhaps, as you all get in the habit of frequent walks
during this “Stay Home” time, you will continue going for walks
as a new part of your routine once this has passed.

Wondering where to walk? Here are maps of some walks in the area (2.5 – 4 miles each).

Walk with Us

When the “social distancing” and constraints have been lifted, please do come join us for a group walk. They’re really lots of fun, and a good way to meet new people and have rich, varied conversation while getting fresh air and exercise.

After after “all this” is over? Here are three monthly walking groups in/near Burien: Walk-n-Talk, WABI Weekday Walkers, Des Moines Waterland Walkers.

We WILL restart the monthly walks when it’s been determined safe to do so. We look forward to seeing you then.

Be well.
Walk-n-Roll.
