So what if it’s Super Bowl Sunday! Thirty-five people and four dogs still showed up to go for a walk with neighbors and strangers, chatting all the way. The afternoon was dry and in the low 40s and just fine for the almost 2-and-a-half-mile loop from Burien Town Square southwest toward Gregory Heights.

There were a lot of new faces in the walking crowd. Many people had come for the first time to January’s Walk-n-Talk-with-a Doc. They were wearing their pedometers, charged up and following Dr. Michael Schlitt’s advice for health, healing and well-being: “Walk!”
One woman confessed that even an hour before the walk she was trying to find an excuse not to walk… but couldn’t. It was on her calendar and her girlfriend was counting on her. Afterwards, she was so glad she had walked.
The unusual crowd strolling through town always draws attention. Restaurant diners turn to watch with question marks on their faces.
(After the walk, people still made it home in time to sit in front of the TV and watch football… each with a light conscience, too.)
Special Walk: Saturday Feb. 9. Seattle Stairways Walk at Eagle Landing Park.
(Meet at Lake Burien Park at 9:45. Start walking at 10:00.)
Next Walk-n-Talk: March 3. Check this web site later on for details.
Mine was a new face in the crowd and it was a fabulous walk with a friendly and social bunch of people! As my schedule allows I will return for future Walk and Talks because I need to move my body daily, and I love Burien!
Thanks for organizing these walks.
See ya real soon.
