2015 Call for Volunteers

It’s time again for the Annual Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project. WSDOT and Cascade Bicycle Club are partnering to collect information about bicycle and pedestrian usage at specific locations around the state. A new website and online registration system have been developed which will make it much easier to log in, pick a site and get everything you need to make your count, count!

Dates

Volunteers can choose to conduct their count on one of these three days:

  • Tuesday September 29, OR
  • Wednesday September 30, OR
  • Thursday October 1

Times: 7am-9am OR 4pm-6pm (Choose an available time slot on the WSDOT website)

What to Do

  1. Go to: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/bike/Count.htm
  2. Click on “Volunteer Sign-Up”
(Under “For Volunteers” in the box on the right side of the web page).
  3. Log in and choose a location to count
(The priority sites are in bold near the top. Secondary sites are lower down the page).
  4. Print the volunteer instructions
  5. Have fun counting!!

In 2012, when coordinating the volunteers, WABI received an e-mail from a mother with two kids that wanted to help. She wrote: “I have two children (8th grade & 7th grade) that are interested in volunteering together for a shift for this study (I will be with them to assist.) Tracie Crone, her daughter, Sierra, and son, Milan, volunteered at the sunny intersection of Ambaum and SW 144th. Their efforts will assist in long-term planning that they and their friends will benefit from. And what a concrete way to learn about community activism. Thank you! (Photo ©Maureen Hoffmann)

Please let me know if you have any questions about the process.
Thank you all!!
