Walk-for-the-Women-TH-2016Annual WALK FOR THE WOMEN,
Saturday, September 17, 2016

This year organizers are promising “a gift for every walker!”

Hospitality House Shelter for Homeless Women – located in Burien – has been assisting homeless women for 16 years to regain home, health and hope here in South King County. Food, safe shelter, and guidance are provided to women working to regain independence.

Volunteer, Joan Huddleston, feels triumphant about the results of the walks.

“Please join us in an easy less-than-two-mile walk in the heart of Burien to support this 90 day care-managed program going. The need remains!” Families, dogs, children…all are welcome, and this event will serve as a great start to a visit to the Burien Wellness Fair. “You’ll feel all virtuous after a healthy walk for a good cause!”

Hospitality House – Who We Are

Hospitality House is a shelter for homeless women, a safe haven where those with no where to turn can find warm, dry shelter and healthy, nourishing food. Each year we graduate approximately 80 women from a comprehensive, 90-day program designed to help residents find employment, improve their life skills and secure a safe, affordable place to call home.

How are your donated dollars spent?

  • $25 registration fee will stock the refrigerator of Hospitality House with sandwich-makings for one day.
  • $80 pays for one night of shelter.
  • $250 sponsorship pays the monthly phone bill.
  • $500 sees a resident through a two-week stay.
  • $2,000 sponsors a resident for the entire 12-week program, preparing her for a secure and stable life.

How many have been helped?
Since Hospitality House opened its doors in 2000, nearly 1,000 women ages 18 to 80 have benefitted from our services.
