It has been too long since we have been able to walk together. Hopefully all of you have stayed healthy and gotten some exercise.

We are going to have our Annual Father’s Day Walk this month, on June 21… but with some modifications.

Time and Location: Meet at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 21 at Saltwater State Park near the bathrooms in the lower parking lot. The address is 25205 8th Place South, basically just off of Marine View Drive.

Social Distancing & Masks: If 5 or fewer people show up then we can all walk together, keeping in mind social distancing and wearing masks. If more than 5 show up we will split up and walk in separate groups.

Route: We will walk the loop trail around the state park, which is an up and down dirt trail, and could be muddy. Dogs are welcome. After walking the trail, some of us will probably head over to explore the beach. Low tide is 11:51 am so it will be a perfect time to go beach combing.

Parking: You will need a Discover Pass or a daily pass (available from the machine at the gate) to park your vehicle in the state park.

Everyone is welcome whether you are celebrating Father’s Day or the chance to exercise and socialize with other people for the first time in quite a while.

These walks are sponsored by the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, www.desmoineslegacy.org.

Thanks, Gary
