May is Bike Month, and there are all sorts of activities going on for cyclists offered by Cascade Bicycle Club, Washington Bikes, People for Bikes and Leafline Trails Coalition. Below, you’ll find a smattering of introductions and links, encouraging you to explore on two wheels.

The best way to celebrate Bike Month is to get on a bike: ride to work, ride to the store or just ride for the joy of being outside and soaking in the sun after a long winter.

Cascade Bicycle Club Bike Everywhere Month

Bike Everywhere Month is a time to support, encourage, and celebrate all things bicycling. Join us and the League of American Bicyclists in proving that no one celebrates pedal power like Washington. Get ready for warm-weather riding with a host of virtual events and some in-person activities.

  • Bike Everywhere Day is May 20, 2022. Keep scrolling to find a celebration station near you.
  • The Bike Everywhere Challenge runs the whole month of May.
  • Pledge to Pedal throughout May by replacing one car trip every week with a trip by bike.
  • Take a look at our calendar for details.

The best way to celebrate Bike Everywhere Month is simply to get on a bike: ride to work, ride to the grocery store or just ride for the sheer joy of being outside and soaking in the sun after a long winter.

Pledge to Pedal

This year at Cascade Bicycle Club and Washington Bikes, Bike Month is Climate Month! Join us throughout the month for activities and celebration as we shine a light on the intersections of bikes and climate. Whether you join us to bike more for transportation, to learn about how we can reshape our neighborhoods to better support climate resilient transportation, or to celebrate the bike as a vehicle for change.

We are inviting you to join Cascade’s Pledge to Pedal: Commit to replacing one car trip a week with a bike trip. Washington state’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation, and by replacing just one car trip a week we can all make a difference.

It’s easy. By replacing just one car trip a week with a bike trip, you can build a long term habit in an accessible, gradual way. Almost 50% of car trips are less than 3 miles long – a great distance for a bike trip!

By taking the Pledge to Pedal, you will:

  • receive helpful tips, encouragement, and stories from others in your community throughout the month to help you meet your goal and make biking a part of your routine
  • learn about how to take climate action in ways that reach beyond biking and work towards larger solutions to climate change

However much time you spend on your bike, you can join the Pledge to Pedal community today!
