In February, the Des Moines Waterland Walkers will walk a portion of the Soos Creek Trail. The Soos Creek Trail is a well-maintained, paved trail that is almost six miles one way. We’ll walk along the northern part of the trail.

We’ll meet a few minutes before 11:00 on Saturday, February 22nd at the Gary Grant Park at 13524 SE 208th St, Kent WA 98042. This is a small park with about 40 parking spaces and public restrooms that is one of the access points for the Soos Creek trail.

From the park, we’ll walk to the trailhead at the northern end of the trail and then walk back to the park. The distance of this out-and-back walk is about 2.6 miles. When we get back to the park, walkers will have the option to walk another 1 to 2 miles on the trail heading south from the park.

The Soos Creek trail is a wide, mostly flat paved trail for walkers and bicycles that travels through wetlands, marshes and forests. For most of the trail, there is also a narrow parallel soft surface path for those who prefer a softer surface. There’s plenty of room for walkers to spread out and walk at their own pace. Well-behaved four-legged friends are welcome on this walk.
