WABI Burien Bikers will cycle the recently completed East Lake Sammamish Trail on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 beginning at 10:30 AM. Our route will begin at the Issaquah Farmer’s market and will follow the Pickering Trail to its intersection with the East Lake Sammamish trail and then continue along scenic Lake Sammamish to Sammamish Landing Park before returning. The paved trail, which has taken over 20 years to reach completion, was once part of the historic 1889 Seattle-Lake Shore & Eastern Railroad connecting Seattle to the coal mines of Gilman (now Issaquah). Our round-trip route is 19 miles of flat, paved bike trail. The trip is estimated to take 2 hours, including a break to rehydrate.
We will meet at the Issaquah Farmer’s Market located at 1730 10th Ave NW, Issaquah, WA 98027. Parking is free.
All participants will need to bring their own bike, a bike safety helmet, and are expected to follow safety guidelines as outlined in the Ride Smart Biking tips. We also advise all bikers to bring along: water for hydration, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small snack (granola bar, dried fruit, nuts, etc).
